Italy- hosting the next Winter Olympics?

There are many misconceptions about what Italy is like but unless you go there and experience it for yourselves there is no way of knowing the truth. People rarely speak of the great snow, beautiful mountains and lovely people that are actually out there. Instead they just mention how expensive it is, how tough the police are and how dangerous the mafia are. These things are so silly and untrue.

You are more likely to experience clinical negligence lawyers than the mafia. So forget all of that nonsense and let me tell you why it is well worth going to Italy if you love to ski and see some beautiful sights. I have been all over the world to ski in various places, and let me tell you Italy is better than any other I have been to. It is not all about the slopes, although they definately don’t disapoint, it is about the whole experience, and for this Italy is leagues above. The towns and villages that are up in the hills are like no others. There is a friendly charm to the place that is difficult to describe. There are many locals living there and sharing a part of their life with you. They are welcoming, kind, and very funny.

I have been to too many places that advertise great ski slopes, and they do indeed have great ski slopes. However what they are lacking in is personality. They are like brand new complexes set up on a huge scale wherever the best slopes are. There is not much else in the area and it is all about the ski centre. I prefer to have a full holiday experience when I go away, and not just go from the slopes to the hotel and back to the slopes the next day.

Working Holidays in Italy

Through my various adventures and travels in and around Italy, I have come to truly love this spectacular country, which is full of culture, good food, good wine wonderful people, and most importantly, excellent snow! Each time I leave I yearn to go again, and when I am not in the country on my latest snow thrill escapade I am back in the UK working towards funding my next trip.

Then it dawned upon me, as one with little ties to the British isles and as a European community member, why don’t I combine my need for money and my love or Italia and move to Italy and get a job. The idea seemed so splendid; I wondered how it had not dawned upon me before.

Citizens of European member countries have the freedom to both live and work in Italy without a visa or a work permit, consequently when it comes to requiring a Visa consultants uk nationals need not worry!

Italy harbours the ability for travellers and those on working holidays to find employment during both the summer and winter months which makes it an excellent prospect for those wishing to stay longer than a couple of months, The summer months are packed with tourists and work can be found in cafes, bars and tourist attractions, those whose first language is English are very attractive to seasonal employers. Furthermore, the winter brings the slew of snow seekers, and those who are able to manoeuvre the slopes stand in good stead for finding snow season work opportunities at resorts across the country.

Italy is wonderfully accommodating to overseas visitors and I have made many good friends from previous trips i have stayed in contact with, what is more I have even already picked up bits of the language. So i am going to pack my bags and take the leap in good faith that i am making an excellent decision, Italy here I come!

Snow Safe

I was just about finished with all my plans for my last trip out to Italy when I realised I needed to renew my holiday insurance. Before I did so I decided to read through the terms and conditions once more, and it was quite a shock to me. I noticed that some of the wording in one section implied that if I was engaged in any unduly safe activities whilst travelling, I would not be liable to claim for resulting damages or injuries or for brain injury compensation.

Now this might not be much of an issue for 90% of travellers who are going away to soak up the rays on the beach, but to a keen ski enthusiast like me, especially one who likes to take things to the extreme from time to time, it is not good news.

It effectively means that if I was involved in a collision etc whilst hitting the slopes I may not be able to claim if I became injured. No dislocated shoulder compensation, no broken arm compensation and no hospital fees paid! This is not good news I thought to myself!

Latest figures show that 2.7 out of every 1000 skiers sustain a serious injury each year.

So it was at that point that I decided that I needed to look into some more specialist insurance that would definately cover me to speed down the slopes and try the odd jump or two. It was not quite as cheap as the usual holiday insurance, but I think it is well worth it just for the piece of mind.

As it happens, I went to the Monte Bondone Ski Resort in the Alps and had a fantastic time. And thankfully I did not need to claim for Brain injury compensation! But I will definately be a lot more careful in the future about assuming that things are covered without checking the smallprint.

At that time, I was planning a week long, refreshing and physically active skiing holiday plus an investment in Hua Hin Real Estate. There is something for everyone – from those who want to polish their skiing skills and soak in the atmosphere to those who crave thrilling moments!

The Dolomites Super Ski Pass with over 400 lifts gives tourists access to twelve skiing areas. The Aosta Valley peaks give longish rides on your ski while Val Ferret and Val Grisenche are ideal for heli skiers. Sestriere is famous because it hosted the 2006 winter Olympics and lives up to its fame. You cannot ignore Cormayeur if you are looking for skiing choices for all levels along with the other elements of a complete vacation like good food, relaxing stay, night life and proximity to international transport. And if you are one of those who like to have a bar or two at hand to party after a good ski, then you might enjoy turning to Sauze d’Oulx!

Discovered – Skiing in Italy

The old order changeth, giving way to the new! This saying may have been coined to express a different situation, but it could well be describing something that I enjoy immensely! I have been an avid skiing enthusiast and have tried most of the ski slopes in Europe.

Like many others, I too thought that skiing was the exclusive offering of Switzerland. That is until I discovered the fantastic piste that is on offer in Italy. I work for a firm that deals in compression clothing and recently had gone to Italy on a business trip. Work done, I chanced upon a mention of skiing in the northern parts of Italy. Thoroughly surprised, I decided to make a quick trip to check out this new discovery and was thrilled to bits at what I found. There are many excellent runs and they are a lot cheaper too! It’s that unique location of the northern slopes of Italy that bring in the excellent snow that is just perfect for skiing.

In fact, some of the runs are a lot better than what is on offer in Europe. Italy has been discreetly tucked away and is only now emerging as a popular skiing destination. Lifts were not as plush as the ones in Europe, but then any enthusiast will choose a good slope over a lift! I mean as long as it gets there in safety, how does it matter? I am in no way implying they are dilapidated cages that might crash if you take a deep breath. But change is under way as, I understand, heavy investments have been made in this sector to bring it at par with other leading ski destinations. You get a good bang for your buck here. And you must have guessed it by now; you also get some deadly Italian food!

Skiing in untouched Italy

I have always appreciated people who can cut through the superfluous and get to the gist of the matter. I always trust their opinion as they don’t mince words or gloss over insignificant details. The other day I was looking up some commercial property management firms when I came upon a comparative observation from one of the firm’s spokesperson about snowboarding in Italy. To me that was news! I always associated Italy with spaghetti, olives and harsh mountain regions in the smaller towns along with top notch fashion in the main cities. I always, unconsciously, thought that people moved out of Italy, not into it.

And here was a great reason to go to Italy, particularly in the winter months. The glamour associated with Europe often overshadows places that are equal, if not better. The snow slopes of Italy, particularly to the north, offer some great ski runs. Along with it, you will also be treated to some spectacular scenery. The resorts offer immaculate piste grooming and offer terrain that is equally good for beginners as well as for those who have moved up the ladder. There are also some untouched and challenging terrains, but I would only recommend this to you if you are very good at it and are confident of taking it on.

You would, however, need to consider an important factor about the rest of it – accommodation, lifts and certain other facilities are not exactly top-notch, but fairly reasonable. This should not matter to you if you are there only to ski.
